Happy Valentines Day!

As overrated as I think this day is..I think this year, instead of my usual "this is just another day invented by masters of marketing and hallmark", I will leave my bitter single ways aside, and recognize the loves of my life---my family and friends.

My family have ,and will of course always remain, major components of my life. I know no matter what I can always count on them! I am grateful for them everyday and I want nothing more than for their health and happiness. I love them all :)

My friends, and they know who they are, are ones that have been with me through alot and I wouldnt trade them for anything in the world! (even if they dont read my blog :P)

My conscience, my moral compass, my happiness, my life, and my valentines, this year, are them--my family and friends!

I LOVE YOU GUYS :)

Previously known as "Brand IMC" , this local agency decided to re-brand themselves into a rip-off version of a super robot TV anime created by artist Go Nagai in the 70s! The "Grendizer" was broadcast on Japanese television from October 5, 1975, to February 27, 1977, and lasted 74 episodes---and now appears to have sprung back to life in Kuwait's advertising scene!

who wouldnt want to get their branding or other advertising needs done by an agency that copied another creation, let alone one that uses a robot as their logo? By the way the name of the robot agency is "Brandizer"----hmmm that sounds familiar?

I swear they move faster than most governments when it comes to aid! And even tho 58 mil sounds like alot they still need more! By now obviously you all know what has transpired in Haiti. The devastating earthquake has hit this poor country so hard leaving its city and people destroyed. The images and stories of the dead and those that survived are unimaginable. Just last week I was looking at the paper and had to do a double take to the picture on the cover---men throwing dead bodies on to a pile of rotting corpses! I was amazed! After reading the article, I understood that the morgues of hospitals have no way of accommodating more dead, that the government doesnt have enough trucks to transport the dead, and that mass graves of tens of thousands have already been filled! There is literally no where for them to put their dead! Some family members will bury their kin on the side of roads.......The site of dead bodies has become a fast norm to the people of Haiti.....I almost wanted to cry....I cant believe a place so horrible!

I don't think we would ever grasp what really is going on there or anywhere else facing such tragedy, unless we are there ourselves. My heart and prayers go out to them.

New years resolutions

How are they coming folks?? It maybe too soon to evaluate but its always good to keep reminding yourselves of goals you've set for this year! I have a crap load of resolutions, and I cant state all of them, but I'll tell you a few:

1- Be a stronger person (about what I want in my professional and personal life--and go get it!)
2- Dont repeat mistakes of 2009
3- Research + prep + and apply for masters :)
4- Be more creative (this includes focusing more on blogging, painting, photography, and drawing)
5- Be healthier (eat better, work out more)

IM HERE, im here my loves! Things have been crazy busy lately! And since my management at work overloaded us with a bible of rules--I havent been able to blog as much :( but Im going to try to work out a system where I can write my posts in advance and then post them when I get a chance to make it easier on myself.

But where are my manners----HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYONE!!! What did you guys do? Any crazy stories?

I went with some friends to a Van Buuren event in Dubai!---And since we are all incapable of ever being on time--we ALMOST missed new years! hahah but no worries--we made it just in time! and we had a blast!---although this is my second dubai new years in a row--and i def dont want to do it again this year---time to move on! The Harmony express raced 1,100km in less than three hours on Saturday, travelling from Guangzhou, capital of southern Guangdong province, to the central city of Wuhan. The journey previously took at least 11 hours.

Wooow that's impressive! And would've really helped when I was doing uni in the states--I could've seen L every weekend! ooor day--if she was lucky enough :P I was in Virginia and L was in Pennsylvania--which by drive is like 12 hours or something ridiculous like that!

I just got off the phone with my dad and he told me he is fasting today, I asked why and he told me because of Ashura. I replied, but isn't that for Shii muslims? He told me, that this day has significance for all muslims, because on this day in the Hijri calendar many miracles and important events took place, including Prophet Moses and his followers being saved by Allah parting the Red Sea.

So I decided to look it up some more and this is what I found:

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (Radiyallahu 'anh) reports that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam) arrived in Madinah and found the Jews observing fast on the day of ‘Ashura… They said: "It is the day of great (significance) when Allah delivered Hazrat Musa ('Alaihis-Salaam) and his people and drowned Pharoah and his people, and Sayyidina Musa ('Alaihis-Salaam) observed fast out of gratitude. And we also observe it." The Holy Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam) responded: "We have more right, and we have closer connection with Sayyidina Musa ('Alaihis-Salaam) than you have"; so Allah’s Messenger (Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam) observed fast (on the day of ‘Ashura) and gave us orders to observe it. [Sahih Bukhari and Muslim]

Basically, Moses is a Prophet of Islam as well.....

‘Ashura is a day of great historical significance. On this day: Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) accepted the repentance of Sayyidina Adam ('Alaihis-Salaam) after his exile from Paradise; Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) saved Sayyidina Nuh ('Alaihis-Salaam) and his companions in the ark; Allah extinguished the fire in which Sayyidina Ibrahim ('Alaihis-Salaam) was thrown by Nimrod; And Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) spoke directly to Sayyidina Musa ('Alaihis-Salaam) and gave him the Commandments. On this same 10th of Muharram, Sayyidina Ayyub ('Alaihis-Salaam) was restored to health (from leprosy); Sayyidina Yusuf ('Alaihis-Salaam) was reunited with his father Ya’qub ('Alaihis-Salaam); Sayyidina Yunus ('Alaihis-Salaam) was taken out from the belly of the fish; and the sea was divided as the nation of israel was delivered from captivity and Pharoah’s army was destroyed. ‘Ashura is also the day when Sayyidina Dawud ('Alaihis-Salaam) was forgiven; the kingdom of Sulaiman ('Alaihis-Salaam) was restored; Sayyidina Isa ('Alaihis-Salaam) was raised to Jannah and Sayyidina al-Husayn (Radiyallahu 'anh) (the Holy Prophet’s, Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam, grandson) achieved the honor of Martyrdom.1

Worship Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) as much as you can on ‘Ashura. Whoever fasts on this day is like one who fasts all his life. Whoever clothes a naked person Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) will release him from a painful punishment. He who visits a sick person, Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) will grant him a reward that will not be decreased. Whoever places his hand on an orphan’s head, or feeds a hungry person or gives water to a thirsty man, Allah will feed him a feast from Paradise and will quench his thirst with Salsabil (a wine that does not intoxicate). And who ever takes a Ghusl on this day will enjoy excellent health and freedom from sickness and indolence. Whoever provides generously for his family on this day, Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) will be generous to him throughout this year. And whoever applies Kuhl to his eyes will never suffer from eye-sore again, inSha’Allah al-Aziz.2

O’ Allah! Bless us to perform good deeds and gain their reward on ‘Ashura. Make the new year one of unity, cooperation and success for Muslims in this city and around the world. Ameen.

So as you can see, alot of things happened on this day! And although I missed the boat on fasting, I'm going to try to do what I can to be a good person today out of respect for all that has occurred on this day, because it is apart of our history, our religion, our past--it is apart of who we are. (And I'll try to remember next year to fast!)

Tracey, now Thomas Beattie just had his/her second child.

Originally a woman, Tracey felt she was meant to be a man and underwent surgery and began taking hormones. Later, as Thomas, he found love with Susan. But their arrangements is a bit odd--Thomas has the children, and Susan breast feeds them.

I reaaaaally dont want to sound like a closed minded hater BUT cmon ....*speechless*....

Dont TXT while you drive!

Over the weekend an old friend of my family lost her son in a car accident. He was walking to his own car parked on the street when a girl, who at time had been texting, wasn't paying attention and hit him--killing him instantly in front of his twin brother. He wasn't more than 19 years old.

I'll admit that I text every now and then while I drive, in addition to talking on the phone...and from now on I'm going to make a big effort to stop doing that.

FYI: A study showed that people are 23 times more likely to get in an accident when they are text messaging. And I'm sure there are more studies out there that have higher statistics.

So I advice you guys to think twice before you txt, because chances are whatever your texting isn't more important than your life or of those on the road with you. Keep your conversations short when talking and simply do not text while driving--there is obviously no way your eye or your concentration is on the road.

Oxygen Bar

Last week L gave me the evil eye when admiring my manicure and as a result i broke a nail! grrr....soo I had to make an emergency run to a nail spa to correct the problem....

ANYWHOOOZZZ while I was drying my nails I noticed this weird thing sitting on the counter....after some investigating they told me they have an oxygen bar! with four different scents to choose from, all you gotta do is stuff some hose up your nose for a number of minutes and BREATHE....apparently each scent encourages a different mood (ie relaxed, calm, or energetic)

I remember hearing about things like this in the states--but was really shocked to find it in kuwait!....I dont know it seems weird---and you have to do it infront of everyone...hmmm yaaa it is def not for me....

But if your interested, the oxygen bar is located in NSYTLE in alBustan mall, Salmiya.

Yesterday I went with L and B to see AVATAR! and I LOVED IT!

A quick synopsis:

The film follows Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), a paralyzed war veteran who gets called to duty on the planet of Pandora. Because of the planet's hostile atmosphere, humans have genetically grown half-alien/half-human bodies which they can jack their consciousnesses into and explore the world in.

On a chance meeting after getting separated from his team, Jake's Avatar is rescued by Neytiri (Zoe Saldana), a Na'vi princess, who brings him into her tribe in order to give the humans a second chance at relating to this new environment. Yet as Jake becomes one with the tribe and begins to understand the secrets of Pandora, his conscience is torn between his new adopted world and the wheelchair-bound one awaiting him when the psychic connection to his Avatar is broken.

Things I loved:

-the world of the Na'vi--the way they look, live, feel, their whole world is BEAUTIFUL
-the attention to detail--the landscape, the plants, the animals, even the bugs were soo interesting I loved it!

Things I didnt like:

-I wish the Na'vi invented different weapons than bow and arrows---I wish it was COMPLETELY unique and no similarity to humans
-I wish we saw more of the relationship between Jake and Neytiri

Things I noticed:

-It kinda reminded me of Native Americans...
-The pro-environment tone of the movie....makes you think about helping our planet

All in all: I RECOMMEND IT! and dont miss the obvious underlying message of the film of how we are killing our planet! remember people recycle!! dont litter! save water and electricity! plant a tree! lets make our world beautiful :)---->(wow i sound positive like p0ach!)

Prince William spends night in an alley!

WOW! Prince William, second in line for the throne, spent the night in an alley in London's cold and dangerous streets!

"I cannot, after one night, even begin to imagine what it must be like to sleep rough on London's streets night after night," William said Tuesday. "Poverty, mental illness, drug and alcohol dependency and family breakdown cause people to become and then stay homeless.

"I hope that by deepening my understanding of the issue, I can help do my bit to help the most vulnerable on our streets."

That's amazing!

It really is inspiring what he did. 7amdilla we don't have THAT big of a problem in Kuwait--but don't be fooled there are plenty of people living in horrible conditions in Kuwait that you can help today!

Donate clothes, bags, shoes, dishes or kitchen supplies, toys, food, money...get creative and try to help those less fortunate than you!

And remember to say 7amdilah for what you have and help those in need...

Yesterday my client told me about this MIT student from India, his name is Pranav Mistry. He developed this invention called the Sixthsense (very "Minority Report"!)

'SixthSense' is a wearable gestural interface that augments the physical world around us with digital information and lets us use natural hand gestures to interact with that information. By using a camera and a tiny projector mounted in a pendant like wearable device, 'SixthSense' sees what you see and visually augments any surfaces or objects we are interacting with. It projects information onto surfaces, walls, and physical objects around us, and lets us interact with the projected information through natural hand gestures, arm movements, or our interaction with the object itself. 'SixthSense' attempts to free information from its confines by seamlessly integrating it with reality, and thus making the entire world your computer.

Hezbullah freaks out on Anne Frank!

Anne Frank, was the young girl we all learned about in history class. She wrote a diary during world war II, documenting her and her families lives while they were in hiding--up until her family was betrayed and shipped off to concentration camps--where she died!

APPARENTLY she offends Hezbullah!

BEIRUT: Anne Frank's diary has been censored out of a school textbook in Lebanon following a campaign by the militant group Hezbollah which claimed the classic work promotes Zionism.

The controversy erupted after Hezbollah learned that excerpts of "The Diary of Anne Frank" were included in a textbook used by a private English-language school in western Beirut.

Hezbollah's Al-Manar television channel ran a report slamming the book for focusing on the persecution of Jews. "What is even more dangerous is the dramatic, theatrical way in which the diary is emotionally recounted," the report, aired last week, said.

It questioned how long Lebanon would "remain an open arena for the Zionist invasion of education." A member of the school board, Jimmy Shoufani, said that the school dropped the textbook from its curriculum after the controversy erupted.

The nerve of Anne Frank! Focusing on Jewish persecution!! We expect more from a 15 year old JEWISH girl in persecution! SHAME SHAME! And using "theatrical" and "emotional" tactics in your writing---cmon Anne!!

Pup to Go co-founder Meena Mansharamani says that using the Pup to Go carrier, which sells for $125, should not be a replacement for walking. Rather, it allows dog owners to take their dogs to places where it might be difficult to walk them, such as a crowded street fair.

"BARCELONA (Reuters) – A company behind plans to open the first hotel in space says it is on target to accept its first paying guests in 2012 despite critics questioning the investment and time frame for the multi-billion dollar project.

The Barcelona-based architects of The Galactic Suite Space Resort say it will cost 3 million euro ($4.4 million) for a three-night stay at the hotel, with this price including an eight-week training course on a tropical island.

During their stay, guests would see the sun rise 15 times a day and travel around the world every 80 minutes. They would wear velcro suits so they can crawl around their pod rooms by sticking themselves to the walls like Spiderman.

Galactic Suite Ltd's CEO Xavier Claramunt, a former aerospace engineer, said the project will put his company (http://www.galacticsuite.com) at the forefront of an infant industry with a huge future ahead of it, and forecast space travel will become common in the future.

"It's very normal to think that your children, possibly within 15 years, could spend a weekend in space," he told Reuters Television.

It will take a day and a half to reach the pod - which Claramunt compared to a mountain retreat, with no staff to greet the traveler.

"When the passengers arrive in the rocket, they will join it for 3 days, rocket and capsule. With this we create in the tourist a confidence that he hasn't been abandoned. After 3 days the passenger returns to the transport rocket and returns to earth," he said.

More than 200 people have expressed an interest in traveling to the space hotel and at least 43 people have already reserved.

But critics have questioned the project, saying the time frame is unreasonable and also where the money is coming from to finance the project.

Claramunt said an anonymous billionaire space enthusiast has granted $3 billion to finance the project."

"L" and I have spent many a nights talking about how we both wished we lived in "Gone With the Wind" time or any other where women wore gorgeous ball gowns and men were gentlemen, and the masks, and the music, and the dancing OOOO MY :)

During my lunch break I stopped by this lil' book shop in Avenues Phase II and didnt find any of the magazines I usually read so I picked up Sayidaty. AND I gotta say I really enjoyed it! They discussed fashion (which is always a MUST in women's magazines) and topics I found VERY interesting, including: the bride that set the fire during a wedding in Jahra a couple months ago, victims of acid burning in Pakistan, the controversy around virginity testing, "qat" a legal drug popular in Yemen and in many other countries, eating right at work (which I enjoyed cause I snack like a racoon!) and an interview with Megan Fox! I was really impressed and I def recommend the magazine to you guys for something a little different and more related to our region.

Heath Ledgers LAST MOVIE!

That's right people! The movie is called Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. Apparently this star-packed movie was Ledger's last project before he died. I think the story is he never finished it--but just like Hollywood to release something AFTER the star has died--it's going to be really interesting to find out how they completed the movie!

Some other stars to look forward to in this childhood adventure movie....

Release date is set for October 16--I for one CAN NOT WAIT! I def will NOT miss this!

Judge accused of having sex with inmates!--yuck!

O god this is disgusting!! Apparently this judge would demand spanking and/or sex from inmates on trial in exchange for leniency.

A case is already being put together with over 15 inmates ready to testify against the judge as well as overwhelming evidence to corroborate their story.

This is just sick!

I wonder how the cases he has tried in the past will be affected? Since he would give someone that did have sex with him like 8 years jail time and inmates who wouldn't have sex with him 30 years--for the same crime! I think his cases need to be reevaluated.

Disgusting and disgraceful for a judge! ugh!

My god did you guys see what Kanye West did to Taylor Swift at the VMA's?? He interrupted her acceptance speech to say that Beyonce's video was more deserving of the award! What an a$$! Taylor totally deserved her moment this was her first moon man award and he totally ruined it for her!

Personally, I like Kanye Wests' music but I can not stand his ego! This isn't the first time he has had an outburst like this...when's he going to learn to sit down and shut up during a show and if he has an opinion either blog about it later or keep it to yourself!

After being booed off stage and recieving all-round criticism for his behavior West has been running around town apologizing for his outburst----whatever! How much you want a bet someone bigger then him made him!?

Luckily Beyonce graciously gave up her time to say her "thanks" when she won her own award and called Taylor up on stage to have her moment :) I thought that was sweet!

ooo myyy god :(.......... Swayze died at the age of 57 after a brave battle with cancer. My heart goes out to his family and fans.

He will truly be missed! A wonderful actor and dancer--how can we forget him? I know I wont! Dirty Dancing was one of my all time favorite movies and I loved his character and his iconic leap from the stage at the end of the movie always made me smile (that and the arm thing at the beginning of the dance :P)......ooo ooo and the lift! :)

UPDATE: Gender Controversy

I don't know how this story ended up being something I followed--but now that the story has concluded I had to share once more!

The update on the South African runner: after she underwent gender testing, she AND the rest of the world found out she was a hermaphrodite. Physically she appears to be a woman, however does not have female reproductive organs and has receded male "parts" that explains the high levels of testosterone.

I still think this whole thing could have been handled better! I'm just in shock and I feel bad for her--having to find out news like this in front of the whole world. I'm not sure what's going to happen to her athletic career--I believe she will continue for now, but it's possible the sports committee might feel she has an 'advantage' over the other female runners! Personally I say the committee should get out from looking under her skirt and let her get back to running! Unfair advantage? Physically she is a woman--just has high levels of testosterone---are they going to test everyone's hormones before they can race?? What's next, your legs are too long--you have an unfair advantage? Ugh this committee is so tasteless and disrespectful and probably emotionally scarred this young girl. a$$holes!

Remember when I posted about that South African runner whose gender was being questioned? Apparently she looked to manly for a female athlete, so she was requested to prove her gender... Now I'm not quiet sure if any formal tests were done---but it seems like her publicist thought that dressing her up for the cover of a magazine would silence critics.

I think this is sooo sad! What a horrible situation! I mean imagine having to prove to the whole world that you're a girl?? WTF?!

I think she looks good on the cover--but its obviously forced....Imagine the first cover you get was to prove to everyone your a girl? :S

Susan Atkins, Manson Family member, 40 years later

Sooo why am I blogging about this--most of us know this story. But did you know that this sociopath is MARRIED???? And not only that--she's been married for 21 YEARS to her attorney! MEANING that 20 years AFTER she committed MURDER and being sentenced to life in prison someone thought she would make a good wife!! Someone (her attorney) that knew every explicit detail of her heinous crime! Are you kidding me?? (see the happy couple below)

Oo and the article mentioned that on her WEBSITE--yes this KILLER has a website--she writes that she feels bad about what she did and she will have to live with it every day of her life... *I'm now making a shocked face*

Married?? website?? -----I AM SPEECHLESS! I mean this is just my opinion but I don't think prisoners should have the privileges of internet OR A WEDDING!?

I just cant seem to wrap my head around the fact that THE KILLER IS MARRIED-----am I bitter?? noooooo not at all!

What do you think? Show forgivness? Show mercy? Believe that she really feels 'bad'? That after all these years she can repent? Should she be given parole so she can die in the arms of her husband? Do you think they should allow prisoners to have a website and get married??

Let's get cookin': Lime & Garlic Shrimp

Lately I have had this craaaazy urge to cook.... I think it's partly do to the fact that I'm fasting-and when I'm fasting I love surrounding myself with food!...It's weird- I know, but I love watching people eat, I love watching cooking shows, and the smells of all the spices and ingredients when I cook---mmmmmmmmmm! I feel less hungry for some odd reason!

Anywhooo back to the topic at hand---I think I want to start recommending recipes that I come across! So here we go...

Here's one that I saw today.....looks YUUMMMY :) (I love shrimp!)

Ingredients you'll need:

1. 2 pounds large shrimp, peeled and deveined
2. 2 tablespoons lime juice
3. 1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro, divided
4. 8 cloves garlic, minced, divided
5. 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt, divided
6. 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper, divided
7. 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil

Cooking Directions:

1. Place shrimp in a medium nonreactive bowl and toss with lime juice, 1/4 cup cilantro, half the garlic, 1/4 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper. Cover and let marinate in the refrigerator for 20 minutes.

2. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp, marinade and remaining garlic; cook until the shrimp are just cooked through, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat; add the remaining 1/4 cup cilantro, 1/4 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon red pepper. Toss to combine.

Yield: 6 servings

Wow that doesn't take long at all!! And sounds yuuummm--yyyy! I’d recommend a cool lemony-icy drink with it……Try it out, and let us know how it turned out!

Yucky Yucky!

This weekend I met up with my cousins and my sister in Chocolate & Macaroon in Alraya Mall---and I did NOT like it!

Oy! Where should I begin?? First off their menu is completely non-negotiable, I ordered the 3 Junior bugers, and I wanted them to put an onion on one of my burgers and they said "NO" !! Who the hell says no??? So I asked for it on the side (thinking I'll just put it myself) and they said "NO"!! Then I asked, instead of ordering a side of cheese fries, could they just put cheese on the fries that come with my meal---and you guessed it they said "NO"!!

We literally spent 10 minutes arguing with them that this is a ridiculous rule that we can't change any order to what we want! They apologized but basically told us tough sh*t!

By the time the food came only half of the orders came out! The rest followed 20 minutes later (including my burgers). At first site the dish looked really artifical but I was hungry and I dug in. THEN the unthinkable!! My meal which came 20 minutes later than half my table was COLD! I immediately sent it back with one eyebrow raised and thinking I'm NEVER coming back here! Ten minutes later my burgers come back (out of a microwave I can only assume) and I gave it another shot.

Cutting to the chase I hated the food! The burger tasted and looked like plastic, the mushroom sauce was disgusting, the flavors were all out of wack! I couldn't finish my meal--it was just BAD!

Afterwards everyone wanted dessert, so we ordered chocolate fondant and mini brownies with coffee---and this is the only good thing I can say---they have good desserts! I don't know if I found it so mouthwatering cause I was already starving but I'm pretty sure it was reeeeaally good.

So in conclusion: their food sucked, their service sucked, the desserts are good!

Soooo this is what I recommend---ONLY ONLY ONLY eat their desserts--if that!

New BB Application!

Sooo recently I've been feeling bad about my blackberry...I really want the new iphone! BUT instead of complaining I've taken the initiative to make my bb the best bb EVER! :P So I got on my BB application world application and downloaded this new app, "Empower SMS Viewer and Composer".

I'm still using the trial but I think I'm sold already! It really allows me to personalize my phone and it threads all your messages like the iphone....You can choose either to put in a background pattern or color, a header pattern or color, font colors, incoming and outgoing msg icons, you can also pull up a page of icons really quickly (see picture below) and bunch of other cool things... you can personalize every detail of your txt messaging! ooo and you can choose the option to send your txt by clicking enter (like in BBM)

The only thing I dont like about it, is your inbox still looks the same, and unlike the iphone where each convo is in one folder, new threads are started to the same person anytime you message first. So it's basically the same blackberry txt messaging concept but you can add your own personal touches.

The application cost $9.99 and I think it's definitely worth it! Try out the trial to see how you like it!

South African teenager Caster Semenya won the women's 800 meters gold medal at the World Athletics Championships in Berlin, just hours after the sport's governing body asked for the 18-year-old's gender to be verified.

hoooooooow embarrassing :s where do they come up with this?? Athletes typically have a more masculine build--but requesting her to prove her gender?! Apparently this has happened before:

There have been precedents in such cases, the most famous being that of Polish athletics great Stella Walsh, who won Olympic gold in the 100 yards at the 1932 Olympics and silver in the same event in the 1936 Olympics in Berlin. yuuummmmm I went to Noodle House the other night with my sister and her husband and it was taaaaaaaasty! My sisters husband kept saying that the one in Dubai was better--but we were all satisfied. Go check it out! I recommend the crab cakes for appetizer and the black pepper prawns or blackened prawns (something like that) yuuuuuuummmmyyyy!!!!

Every morning I come into the office, open my email and shuffle through my daily friendly forwards and what I have noticed is that people in Kuwait (especially certain people at KNPC and NBK) are OBSESSED with baby forwards!! Pictures of babies sleeping, eating, smiling, crying, standing, falling, with a cat, with a dog, with their shadow, in a bucket, on grass, in an oversized hat, or soooometimes the occasional forward with "inspirational" or "enlightening" words of wisdom written across the pic (like the one featured above). I want jokes! I want crazy stories! I want something more interesting than a chubby fat baby drooling on my screen!
(The one above is cute tho right :P)

I was just thinking the other day with my friend H (aka covert penguin), about starting a new blog or remodeling this one into more of a 'sex and the city' type of topics and social issues. Buuuuuut I heard a rumor once that Mark from 248am was actually arrested for 3 days for something he said on his blog! I'm not sure if thats true buuuuut now I'm freaking out that as my blog readership jumps from 4 to 5 people that the government will catch on and notice I wrote s-e-x on the sentence above and slap the cuffs on me!!

Military studies show that prolonged exposure to smoking is bad for your health (you don’t say!) And apparently, there will be a recommendation to the Pentagon to enforce a no-smoking policy over the next 5-10 years for any man or woman in uniform—including those in combat!

Now we all get that smoking is bad, but something about this just doesn’t seem right. If I spent all day in combat I think it's my freakin’ choice or not if I want a cigarette!

What do you think? Do you think it’s the government’s duty to look out for their soldiers’ health when they wont do it themselves? Or it should be personal choice?

Review: Salad Boutique

A couple weeks ago I tried Salad Boutique and have been back several times since then. This past Saturday “L” and I went for lunch there, I was soo excited to share this little treasure!

Here’s my review…(p.s. pics taken with my BB -and I kept forgetting to take pics of the food before I ate :s--I was staaarving!)

The place is ADORABLE and the food is fantastic! The menu is quite extensive, a total of 105 some items including: salads (the majority of the menu-duh), sandwiches, mini burgers and some tasty cocktails (try the banana and date one!).

The pricing is fair considering the portions are HUGE (I’d say 2-3 people can enjoy one salad)! You always have some left to take home and snack on later ☺ They do take some time to prepare your dish because everything is made fresh and upon order, but you have plenty of tasty treats to choose from while you wait. (try the prawn plum!)

While looking through the menu you’ll notice some salads created by people here in Kuwait. Apparently, anyone can submit salad recipes and if they pass the test of the chefs and owners they’ll add it to the menu and you can name it whatever you want! For example: “Tasty Greens by M” So if you think you, your mom, your grandma, your dad etc… have a recipe they would like to share with Kuwait, submit it to Salad Boutique!

The only thing about the place is that it’s really small so I suggest making a reservation before you go…

But they also do take away and have a delivery service, which I’m excited about! I always like to bring salads to any lunch or gathering I go to (it’s something different-that and I don’t really like desserts). The great thing too is, you can purchase one of their stylish bowls, for I think 4kd, so when it’s delivered the salad is all ready to go!

Come to think of it, I don’t know anywhere else in Kuwait where you can get fresh, amazing, salads delivered right to your door…hmm?

Anywhooo here are some suggestions of things you should try, because the menu is quite overwhelming:

-Prawn plum for appetizer
-Prawn mini burger
-Chicken and walnut salad
-Orzo salad (its served warm)
-Banana and date drink (it’s a thick drink btw)

Location: Jabriya, near Champions gym. If you go to the back side of the Gym continue down the road for a bit, you’ll see it on your right. It’s a grey small building.

DÉCOR: 5/5

SPACE: 2.5/5 (points off for no parking and size - there’s no bathroom. Only reason it’s not a zero is because I think its aimed more for take away and delivery orders.)
